Default Best mesmer vanq builds and techniques?

My alt is a mesmer and I was seriously thinking about making him a GWAMM. However, I dread vanquishing. You guys got any builds, tricks or advice about vanquishing with a mesmer? Is it even worth it? Thanks.

I never used sabway/discordway but I will consider giving it a try.

That has been the meat of my build as well , but the anti-synergy of VoR is getting old.

...also i really hate to say this but if your hero henching you could go rit secondary and use an SoS build... it does a fair amount of damage... and is way easier than most mesmer builds...

also it depends on what area your in... if prof bring WW for the short hex times on bosses...

AP caller with PvE skills is I think the "best" mesmer build for mowing through HM with discordway heros.

IMO, Mesmer is best for Discordway. And Discordway is from my experience best hero setup, at least for casters. That says a lot. It's incredibly good for vanquishing most areas.

Btw, as a mesmer you should only fear other mesmers If you watched the movie Heartbreak Ridge, you may remember the line "it's my will against yours and you will lose". Adapted to mesmer style, it's your power against theirs and they will lose

If you want, here's my build I use with Discordway and in general:

Auspicious Incantation
Arcane Echo
EVAssassinSupport
APromise
Technobabble
Pain Inverter
Unnatural Signet
Rez / optional

Sup FC rune. Spear with silencing mod.

With proper discord heroes and this build (other builds may work too), you will plow through PvE mobs as you vanquish.

Alternatively, spirit spam is also powerful (in general), but you will lack synergy with discord. I'd advise spirit spam in areas (such as some dungeons) where it's better to take some other heroes.

I did my VQing with a mix of AP caller, VoR, Lyssa's Curse and RoJ builds. I used sabway heroes at first, then discovered discord and found it much, much easier. I'd be sorely tempted to spirit spam if I was doing it again on a mes, and I'd give the Mandragor build a go too.

AP caller is desperately boring, and frustrating if you forget that certain areas are interrupt- or hex removal-heavy, so you do need other effective builds for variety if you don't want to pull your hair out.

Any build you play all the time will get boring, hence variety. But AP in itself is not boring. If you want, you can try the build I posted. I find it much more fun than standard YMLD+Finish Him. Arcane echoed Pain inverter can be amazing fun, try it on charr rangers for instance (no need to be nukers). Technobabble is AoE daze for 7 out of 10 seconds (and can be echoed). You can either block enemy casters (if you dont choose to PI them), or block enemy monks. Piece of cake.

Besides, he wanted to know if mesmer is any good in vanquishing. Having fun is rather subjective. I merely wanted to point out that mesmer does have builds that can destroy PvE.

I have been vanquishinig with Discordway on my heros. I run these skills:

Cry of Pain
Necrosis
Technobabble
MInd Wrack
ARcane Conumdrum
Ether Feast
Lyssas Aura
Mantra of Resolve

I also tend to bring a Mes hench, Earth Magic hench, and two healers. Makes for good paced VQ.

Heres what i use on my mesmer with discord.
lyssa's aura
fragility
enfeeble
epidemic
arcane echo
necrosis
Cry of pain (optional)
You move like a dwarf (optional)

sometimes i will sub the optional slots with by urals hammer and ebon battle stand of hounor or wisdom, or really anything that i think i will need.

I like using this becuse i can hex and spread conditions to more than one foe. Cheap skills with a heavey energy regen alow me to spam some high armour ignoring damage.

I dont think anyone mentioned the use of either Fevered Dreams or Extend Conditions builds , along with some pve skills you can spread 5-6 conditons on all enemies including DW, Daze and Cripple. I use fevered dreams with fragility, ymlad, you are all weaklings and accumilated pain, along with e management skills and necrosis to spam 90 dam.

I've run that with discord and prefer it much more than the AP caller, at may not do asmuch damage but it gives constant fuel for discord and deals damage AoE. I've also recently starting to run FD on myself , 2x Discord and one Me/N with EC as elite and mostother skills from the curses line. So far i've used this to vanq all areas in eotn (apart from Sancoth Valley) and most of Cantha.

Also aesthetically Gwen or Norgu are a significant improvement on Olias!

I usually run a sabway variant but drop the curses necro and run Me/n with: Enfeebling blood, necrosis, Pain inverter, VoR, CoP, Empathy, Power Drain, Res Sig.

Is it worth it is really whether or not you enjoy doing it. Don't feel like you have to do vanquishing because it's there.

Discordway is reasonably good and very simple to use. Doesn't require any microing.

For your Mes, I would recommend using VoR or AP along with EVAS, Pain Inverter, and one other PvE skill. Empathy works well since it seems everything, including casters attack.

Oh yeah for tips.

1. Don't ball up. Space out your heroes reasonably so AoE won't rape your team.
2. Bring consumables to quicken your pace. Time is money right? Everyone likes money.
3. Do your research before going into a territory. Nothing sucks like bringing a MM into an area with no corpse.
4. Bring Protective spirit and other prots. You need to have damage mitigation. Pure heals ain't going to save you.
5. Work with a buddy. Makes things faster and keeps you company.

I have to second the Fevered Dreams. With the PvE skills that inflict conditions and fragility, this works wonders. Finish him spike is my fav part!

Moment of truth. I have been using Fevered Dreams to blow through HM for quite some time now. After reading this thread, I went ahead and posted the team build centered around Fevered Dreams mesmer main that I use and find useful. Hope you like it:

I have GWAMM on my mes; see "When I did my VQing". That covers whether it's any good or not. It wasn't as easy as it is on my imba, for sure, but it's certainly doable.

As for builds that can destroy PvE, I just listed six (one of which was the Fevered Dreams build that the people below me ignored - aka Mandragor In A Can, it's listed in this section, search for it). They all work extremely well. Take the one that suits the area best, or go with whichever seems most fun at the time. VQing is the worst part of getting GWAMM and it is desperately boring, so having fun is important if you're ever going to finish it.

I already posted my version of FD in various parts of the forum so didn't feel like repeating. FD is good but it's not as good as AP if you're going strictly for speed/power. As I said, just in 3 seconds, with arcane echoed PI followed by EVAS, I can do around 1000 damage with APer. Yes, FD has nice utility but it's more about disabling while killing. AP is straight out masacre where you want your enemies to hit you so that you can damage them more.

All of them not being as good as AP one. Especially VoR and probably RoJ to some extent.

As I said, fun is subjective. I don't consider VQ the worst part, it's mostly fun. I'd consider the worst part mindnumbing things such as drunkard title, exploration titles etc. Exploring is usually fun, but "hug the wall" to get minor pieces, I really detest it and don't do it.
